CONCHA BELT

conchabeltSterling Silver Medallion Concha Belt

concabelt1

There has to be a good 3 lbs of silver on this belt. Marked handmade and sterling, it is hammered, stamped and repoussed  on the matching medallions with its original leather belt. The dimensions of each of the 8 medallions is 3 1/2″w x 3″h. Second phase belt-the silversmiths began to solder and would solder a silver strap or bar across the back of the concha to run the leather belt through. This allowed the entire face of the concha to be decorated and kept the leather belt on the backside of concha.Generally thought of as being during the years of 1890’s through early 1900’s.
